Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Moscow on the evening of Wednesday, January 21, on a two-day visit, reports the official Palestinian WAFA news agency.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Abbas on January 22.
On January 14, US President Donald Trump's special representative, Stephen Wittkoff, announced that the second phase of the Trump administration's peace plan in Gaza has begun. According to Wittkoff, the second phase envisages the creation of a transitional technocratic Palestinian Authority, the disarmament of the Palestinian Hamas movement and the transition from a ceasefire to reconstruction in the region.
