European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been offered to "represent the EU" on Gaza at the "Peace Council", although the proposal did not mention the billion-dollar contribution required. Politico reports that he intends to respond after consultations with European leaders.
On Sunday, Bloomberg, referring to the "Peace Council" project, reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump is asking countries for more than one billion dollars for the right to occupy a permanent seat on the council.
"The EU official said that the invitation received by von der Leyen did not mention the billion-dollar price of participation."
According to the official, the president of the European Commission is evaluating his answer, which he will give after consulting with the European leaders, because he was asked to "represent the EU", the publication said.
US President Donald Trump previously announced the establishment of a "Peace Council" on the Gaza issue and invited the leaders of a number of countries, including Russia and Belarus, to join it.
