European leaders will not object to the acquisition of Greenland by the United States during negotiations at the World Economic Forum (WEF). US President Donald Trump expressed confidence in this matter during a conversation with journalists in Florida.
The head of state was asked if he thought that European leaders would oppose his plan regarding Greenland.
"I don't think they will object much. Look, we need Greenland. They should do it. They cannot ensure the protection of Greenland in Denmark," the head of state said. He added that he intends to discuss the situation around Greenland within the framework of the Council of Europe.
As Politico previously reported, citing sources, EU leaders are desperately seeking a way out of the impasse over Washington's threat to impose tariffs on European countries opposed to the US acquisition of Greenland, and will try to ease tensions in Davos.
