The members of the North Atlantic military alliance of the United States have stopped exchanging intelligence data with Washington due to President Donald Trump's ambitions regarding Greenland and the deterioration of trust within the alliance, the British I Paper portal reported, citing sources of Western special services.

"Trump's proposal to join Greenland causes division within NATO and forces officials to refuse to share classified information with the United States," the newspaper notes.

According to sources, European intelligence officials have begun "limited contact" with their American counterparts, fearing that the information could reach Trump and be used in an attempt to seize the island by force.

"We used to drink beer together and work side by side in Iraq and Afghanistan, but now a strange situation has arisen. It is devastating, and I would never have thought that something like this could happen," said one of the interlocutors.

The British source described the current deterioration of relations between the White House and its allies as "unprecedented" and noted that Great Britain has lost the status of the main partner for exchanging intelligence information of the United States, becoming "just a part of Europe" in the eyes of Washington.
