US President Donald Trump has invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to become a founding member of the "Peace Council", which will be responsible for the reconstruction and security of the Gaza Strip. This was stated in the statement of Burhanettin Duran, the head of the communication department of the Turkish President's Office, which was published on the Turkish NSosyal social network.
"The UN Security Council, by resolution 2803, decided to support the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza announced by US President Donald Trump. Within its framework, a "Peace Council" and related structures are being created, which will be responsible for ensuring the security and reconstruction of Gaza," Duran wrote, according to Anadolu.
He noted that "US President Donald Trump, as the founder and president of the Peace Council, sent a letter on January 16, 2026, inviting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to become a founding member of the Peace Council."
