A 5.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of the British overseas territory of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. This was announced by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

According to the center, the epicenter was located 2690 km northeast of Punta Arenas, Chile. The hearth was located at a depth of 68 km.
