The deputy head of the White House stated that Denmark is unable to control Greenland.
"Denmark is a small country with a small economy and a small army. They cannot protect Greenland. They cannot control Greenland," Miller said on Fox News.
Miller stated that the United States needs Greenland to ensure national security.
According to the official, the ability to control Arctic shipping lanes is becoming critical. He noted that US adversaries are spending significant resources in this area.
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. However, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the island should become part of the United States.
