Slovakia temporarily closed its embassy in Tehran

Slovakia has temporarily closed its embassy in Tehran and evacuated its employees, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia reports.

"Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar has decided to evacuate the staff and temporarily close the republic's embassy in Tehran due to the deterioration of the security situation in Iran, increasing tension and the real threat of an escalation of the military conflict," said the statement posted on the official website of the republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement states that the embassy staff and diplomats are currently safe. Slovakian citizens in Iran are also advised to leave the country.
