CNN Brazil. Brazil wants to strengthen its air defense systems after the US strikes on Venezuela

Brazil's ground forces insist on the rapid strengthening of the country's air defense systems and the creation of its own ATS, reports CNN Brasil, referring to Brazilian General Tomás Paiva.

It is noted that the president of the country, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, held a consultation with the leadership of the armed forces after the US aggression against Venezuela.

In his report, Paiva pointed out to the head of state the "strategic vulnerabilities" of the defense capabilities of the republic. The military leader emphasized the need to modernize medium and long-range air defense systems, modernize the helicopter fleet, as well as acquire reconnaissance and offensive drones.

During the meeting, the Minister of Defense of Brazil, Jose Mucio Monteiro, noted that about 10,000 soldiers provide security on the northern border of the Amazon region with Venezuela. However, according to the minister, the technical equipment of the troops needs to be reviewed in order to face new threats.
