The initiative includes former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Kerry Clifton, former Prime Minister of Slovakia Jan Czarnogurski, Lord Marquis of Reading, Russian State Duma Deputy Konstantin Zatulin, First Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo, University of Pretoria Professor and Bishop Patrick Sukhdeo, former EU Commissioner Jan Figel, "The Former Guardian correspondent Jonathan Steele, head of the International Christian Solidarity Organization John Eibner, EU Member of Parliament Lubos Blaha, former Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Frantisek Miklosko, Member of the Berlin Legislature Wolfgang Hummel, head of the Schiller Institute Helga Zepp-LaRouche, president of the Prague Diplomatic Academy Cyril Svoboda, economist Ian Campbell, international lawyer Robert Amsterdam, former Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon, former Prime Minister of Italy and former head of the EU Romano Prodi, as well as Secretary General of the European Security Institute, Brigadier General Gustav Gustenau. According to the assessment of this circle, a systemic attack has begun in Armenia against the Catholicos and the entire Armenian Apostolic Church. According to them, the arrests of clergymen, the strengthening of pressure around the Mother See and the artificial division of the church field by the government not only contradict the democratic norms, but also directly threaten the internal stability and security of the country.
Our sources convey that these estimates will soon be transferred to the highest platforms of the European agenda with concrete demands. And here is a new development. according to our information, this topic is already actively circulating in the British media-political environment.
On the broadcast of the prestigious British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, journalist Tim Stanley and British priest Benedict Keeley discussed the political line of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, describing it as authoritarian and dangerous. According to Kahana, the Prime Minister of Armenia gives the impression of a collaborationist. In his estimation, it refers to the concessions to Azerbaijan, the silencing of internal opponents and the arrests of protesting archbishops.
It was also claimed that a significant number of archbishops are currently under arrest or criminal pressure. By the way, the initiative group is already preparing to raise the issue in the European structures, demanding to stop the repression, release the illegally detained clergymen and restore the obligations of the Armenian authorities towards the rule of law and fundamental human freedoms.
