We are witnessing the active work of the competent authorities of Armenia, who are looking for agents of Russian influence among political or public figures with oppositional views. This was announced today, December 25, during a briefing by the press spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
"You know, I have a question. by what standards do the competent authorities of Armenia identify or catch agents of Russian influence? Who are they? Are they the ones who support the development of bilateral relations? Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan constantly talks about the need to develop relations with Russia. Those who respect Russia know its history and culture, and Prime Minister Pashinyan constantly talks about the friendly attitude towards our country. The criteria by which competent authorities of Armenia identify agents of Russian influence are unclear. I would like to understand who they are talking about and what those standards are," he said.
According to Zakharova, if the goal is to eliminate the opposition with Russia's "sauce", then it is not good at all.
"I think the people of Armenia, who have gone through such a difficult path and know what it means to be persecuted on the basis of nationality, are unlikely to support it. Indeed, we see that people do not support it. And we hope that the Armenian society will not allow such a phenomenon to develop and that the Armenian authorities will not popularize it. And, in our opinion, the manipulation of issues related to faith, religion, religious beliefs and views for political purposes is absolutely unacceptable," said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
