Scholz held a closed-door meeting on Germany's economic crisis

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a closed-door meeting with industry associations, businesses and trade union representatives on Tuesday, opening a series of consultations on the country's economic crisis, German cabinet spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said.

"On Tuesday, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with selected participants for a confidential exchange of views on German industrial policy. "Representatives of trade unions, industrial associations and companies in the affected sectors spoke for three hours with the Federal Chancellor in Berlin," Hebstreit said.

This was the beginning of a process of discussing ways to promote economic growth, preserve industrial jobs and strengthen Germany as an industrial nation, he said.
"Participants have agreed to keep the negotiation stage confidential.

The exchange of views should continue on November 15.
"Germany is a strong country that is currently facing serious challenges. Now it is necessary to solve this problem together and strengthen the country's industry, which includes very specific measures," Scholz was quoted as saying during the negotiations.
