Armenia has been and remains an ally in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the door is open for the republic's full participation. CSTO General Secretary Imangali Tasmagambetov stated this in an interview with TASS.
"Armenia was and remains our ally. We hope that Armenia will return to full participation in the CSTO in the near future. All conditions and prerequisites exist for that. We believe that the people of Armenia are interested in creating a common security area in Eurasia. Moreover, in November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia issued a statement that the issue of the Republic's withdrawal from the CSTO is not on the table," he said, answering the question about the possibility of Armenia's withdrawal from the organization.
"As it is known, RA has frozen its work in the organization, which reflects the current position of the political leadership of Armenia regarding the CSTO. This is a decision of an independent and sovereign state, which cannot be influenced by any other state or organization," stated the CSTO General Secretary.
