The administration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian intends to triple the country's defense spending. According to Armenpress, this was announced by the representative of the Iranian President's Office, Fatemeh Mohajerani. "The cabinet expects to increase the defense budget of the next financial year by almost 200%," Tasnim quoted him as saying.
The agency reminds that on October 22, Pezeshkian presented the next year's budget draft to the Mejlis. According to the president, the situation in the region and the threats to the people of Iran force the country's authorities to increase their defense power.
In addition to defense, the draft budget includes measures to increase oil production, develop medicine, distribute water resources and support the least protected sections of the population.
