According to the accepted package, the 24-month mandatory service will become 18 months. At the same time, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan presented the figures regarding the training sessions of reservists in the National Assembly. In 2025, 16,000 reservists were involved in training camps, and in 2026 it is planned to involve 20,000. This means that next year's planned recruitment will increase by 4,000 (about +25%) compared to the figure for 2025.
In other words, within the framework of pre-election advertising, the term of military service was shortened by half a year, but all other RA citizens, in larger numbers, will have to participate in training camps.
Experts consider this reduction to be another step in the destruction of the army."
