The Holy Mother See of Etchmiadzin issued a statement about the illegality of discounting the names of the Catholicos of All Armenians and the diocesan leader at the Holy Liturgy. During the Holy Liturgy, the mention of the names of the archbishop and the diocesan leader, the bishop, has the following main and important meanings:
A. ritual, which expresses in its entirety the mystery of the Holy Liturgy and the Liturgy, as an official sacred book approved by the Church.
B. ecclesiological-canonical, by which the local community gathered around the bread and cup of the Holy Liturgy is established as part of the Universal Church, whose spiritual leader is the bishop, and the liturgical priest or bishop establishes his ecclesiastical-canonical union with the Mother Church and its leader, the archbishop.
The first evidence of the mention of the name of the bishop during the Holy Liturgy in the Armenian Apostolic Church is in the interpretation of Khosrov Adzevatsi, the liturgist of the Armenian Church, back in the 10th century. According to Khosrov Anshevatsi, the mention of the bishop's name is important, because the bishop is the overseer of the Orthodox doctrine, and the priest thereby confirms the advisory power received from him and the offering of the Holy Liturgy according to the Orthodox doctrine.
Arbitrary or deliberate discounting of the names of the archbishop and the bishop by the liturgist is not only contrary to the ritual rule established in the Universal Church over the centuries, but also distorts the complete understanding of the council of the Holy Liturgy. The mention of the mentioned names during the Holy Liturgy makes the united church a part of the apostolic and universal Church.
The discounting of the names of the bishop and the presbyter by the liturgist means that the liturgist calls into question the Holy Liturgy offered on the basis of the Orthodox faith, because the inspector of Orthodoxy is the bishop and the presbyter, he puts himself out of the church union, he rejects the authority of the leader of the Church.
