At least 200,000 people rallied in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, demanding to bring to justice those who are corruptly involved in flood relief projects, mass protests in the Philippines continue for the second day in a row. According to the Philippine National Police, the authorities have deployed around 15,000 police officers to ensure security during the protests.
The participants are demanding that officials be held accountable for corruption scandals, including allies of the country's president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and in particular, his cousin and former speaker of the House of Representatives, Martin Romualdez. Earlier, the Ministry of Finance reported that the country lost up to 2 billion dollars in flood control projects due to corruption in the period from 2023 to 2025. The fact-finding commission initiated criminal cases against 37 people, including senators, members of Congress and businessmen.
