Vardan Harutyunyan's legal team, former chairman of SRC, informs that the complaint addressed to the European Court of Human Rights regarding the apparently disproportionate and illegal use of detention has already been processed and will be submitted to the European Court in a few days.
"Former SRC Chairman Vardan Harutyunyan has been illegally imprisoned since August 7, 2025, according to lawyers. According to the decision of August 8, the Anti-Corruption Court decided to detain Vardan Harutyunyan for two months in the case that was publicized in 2018 and ended, that is, seven years old. In general, in the conditions of such a long time gap, detention cannot be considered the only possible and reasonable measure of restraint.
Despite this, the Court did not take into account the possibility of other possible measures of restraint, and detention itself was chosen as a measure of restraint. The European Court of Human Rights considers the Court's preference for detention in such cases as a gross violation of a person's right to personal freedom and the very presumption of freedom," the message states.
