The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informs about the incident that happened yesterday in the "Artik" Penitentiary Institution, at the same time informing that the situation is stable and fully under control.
"Recently, in the "Artik" penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the work of combating the criminal subculture, the fight against prohibited items, the removal of unauthorized objects from the cells and furniture that does not meet the established standards, and other legal actions caused dissatisfaction among the imprisoned persons, which were accompanied by illegal demands.
On October 24, during the implementation of the above-mentioned regular actions by the officers, the imprisoned persons disrupted the normal work of the institution, showed disobedience, disrespect and openly aggressive behavior, using physical force against the officers.
As a result of the explanatory and preventive work carried out by the penitentiary officers, the situation was settled. At present, the situation in "Artik" penitentiary institution is stable and under complete control.
At the same time, it should be noted that such acts of disobedience are against the law and cause grounds for criminal liability defined by the legislation," said the message issued by the Central Security Service.
