US President Donald Trump has confirmed to reporters that he has authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to conduct covert anti-government operations in Venezuela, NBC News reported.
"Actually, I allowed it for two reasons. The first is that they released the prisoners from their prisons to the United States of America. And the second is the drugs. We get a lot of drugs from Venezuela," Trump said when asked why he authorized the CIA's operations in Venezuela.
On October 15, The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing sources, wrote that the US administration had given the CIA the right to organize secret operations against the country's authorities in Venezuela without publishing it.
