NASA has warned that the activity of the Sun continues to grow

After the 2008 record of silence, solar activity did not continue to decline, as expected, but began to grow gradually. This conclusion was a group of researchers led by NASA Jasinski, employee of the NASA Reactive Engine Laboratory. The study was published in the journal The Astrophysical Journal Letters (AJL).

"All the signs testified that the Sun enters the long-term period of low activity," Ghasinsky said. "So we were surprised to see the trend turned. The sun is slowly waking up. "

Solar activism varies by about 11 years cycles, but long-term fluctuations in decades are possible. From the 1980s to 2008, the activity was steadily reduced, eventually reaching its lowest level in the registered history. Many thought this would be the beginning of the new "small age" of solar recreational activity. However, instead, the number of solar spots, the density of the solar wind and the magnetic field again started to grow.

This means that in the future the country and other planets can be more often subject to powerful space events, including outbreaks, magnetic storms and coronary mass emissions. Such events affect the safety of satellites, GPS, radio, electric networks and even astronauts.

"We do not fully understand long-term fluctuations. For example, why did the sun live in the 1790s minimum life? There are still many such mysteries, "said Yasinski.

Scientists have received data from NASA's long-term Ace and Wind missions, which have been operating since the 1990s. They record the characteristics of the solar wind and plasma in the country.

Now, researchers have warned, humanity should be prepared for the "awakening" sun, which will bring a new space "stormy weather", and the quality of the forecasts will determine both the work of the technology and the safety of future missions.
