Scientists have found that online acquaintances lead to less happy marriages

Scientists from the National University of Australia have found that online familiar couples have less strong feelings for each other than those who personally met. The results of the study were published in Telematics and Informatika.

6646 pairs of different countries took part in the study. 16% of the total volunteers met with each other online. This figure has increased to 21% among couples that began relations after 2010. The researchers were asked to talk about the quality of relations and appreciate the intensity of the gravity of their partner.

The Internet, familiar with the Internet reported a lower level of satisfaction. They also mentioned the lower level of intimacy, passion and devotion to their "other half" compared to those who met online.

According to scientists, couples personally are more likely to have the same social values and see the world in such a way. The overall system of ideals, needs and interests contributes to understanding and support in relations.

The authors of the study noted that the Internet allows the huge selection of potential partners, but the excess of options can complicate the choice and reduce the quality of relations. In addition, over time, dating apps are more and more used for short-term relationships.

"Another issue related to online dating is the risk of ignoring noticeable warning signs. This may have a negative impact on the long-term stability of the couple, "said Adam Boden, the main author of the study.
