More than 1.9 million Afghan migrants were deported from Iran and Pakistan

Over the past seven months, more than 1.9 million Afghan migrants have been deported from Iran and Pakistan, said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.

According to the Commissioner, more than 1.5 million people were deported from Iran, and more than 300,000 people from Pakistan.

The Turk warned that many of the deporting faces "bad treatment, torture, torture or arbitrary arrest in Afghanistan and cannot be forcibly deported."

The High Commissioner called for immediate stop deportations, emphasizing that "the return must be voluntary, safe, decent and corresponding to international law," said the Afghan Khaama Press.

"Afghanistan has a serious humanitarian and human rights crisis. Returnors, both forced or voluntarily, face discrimination, violence, economic difficulties and employment opportunities, "the publication quotes the diplomat.
