US President Donald Trump's protectionist policy towards BRICS member states and their partners, China Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said.
"There are no winners in the commercial and tariff wars, and protectionism has no future," he said during a briefing, commenting on the programs of the White House and 10% tariffs against Brics supports the BRICS.
According to the Chinese diplomat, Beijing has always opposed the optional use of customs duties for coercion.
"This does not correspond to anyone's interests," he added.
Mao Ning also reminded that BRICS is an important platform for cooperation between the countries of developing markets, "promoting the openness, inclusion and mutually beneficial cooperation."
