During the NATO member states, military spending in a few years has contributed to 5% of GDP to the world's arms race. The statement came from Brazilian President Lula Dava Silva in the opening of the BRICS summit in BRICS summit, according to TASS.
According to him, since the end of World War II, the world community is facing an unprecedented number of armed conflicts.
"The last NATO decision to deliver 5% [military spending] is a nutritional race," Lula said Silva.
He added that it was easier for the alliance to increase military spending than the previously promised 0.7% to help developing countries help.
