Russian Ambassador to Baku Mikhail Evdokimov, who was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, was filed in connection with the investigation of the crash of the Azerbaijani Airlines (Azal) plane crashed near Aktau in late December 2024.

The document also states that the Azerbaijani side expects Russia to conduct a full and transparent disaster investigation, as well as the culprits will be held accountable and compensated for the victims.
The Embraer 190 aircraft of the Azerbaijani Airlines flying from Baku to Baku crashed near the morning of December 25, 2024 near the town of Aktau in the west of Kazakhstan. According to the airline, there were 62 passengers on the plane and five crew members. 38 people were killed and 29 people survived.
