The Swedish government will reconsider the structure of economic assistance to other countries, both geographical or thematic. This will free 1,67 billion religions ($ 180 million) that will be used for additional support for Ukraine and other humanitarian activities in the press release.
The government has also decided to gradually suspend the cooperation program with Afghanistan and the Strategy for Regional Development Cooperation with Asia and Oceania to move from economic assistance to trade. The report states that the review of the aid occurs in the light of the changing world situation.
"In many countries, the situation has worsened due to the decision to suspend a part of its assistance by the United States.
Therefore, Sweden is one step ahead, with a comprehensive revaluation of the 2025 aid budget. We allocate 1.67 billion Swedish religions to Ukraine and support their efforts to life worldwide.
"Sweden cannot cover US reductions, but we must do everything to support Ukraine and save lives," the press release states the statement of the Minister of Foreign Trade and International Development Benjamin Dusa.
