Russia and Iran have allied relations. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this during a meeting with leading media heads of BRICS member countries, RIA Novosti reports.
"As for Iran, we have direct alliance relations with Iran. And we have a very keen sense of what is happening in this country, we have a deep sense of what is happening in various fields," the president said.
On October 18, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said that an agreement on comprehensive cooperation between Russia and Iran will be signed after the BRICS summit in Kazan, which will be held on October 22-24.
