The Georgian railway modernization project is coming to an end, after which the railway capacity will almost double. The project costs 248 million Swiss francs.
This was reported by the Georgian service of SPUTNIK agency quoting the annual statement of the country's prime minister during his annual report.
"We have significant results in the railway industry. The railway modernization project is coming to an end, after which the capacity of the railway will reach 48 million tons, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to the Georgian Prime Minister, the draft modernization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is almost complete.
"98.5% of the works envisaged by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project are over. In other words, these works are almost over, "he said.
