The professional activities of journalists in Armenia must be fully guaranteed. A Defender's Statement

The professional activities of journalists in Armenia must be fully guaranteed. This is stated in the Human Rights Defender.

"The Human Rights Defender emphasizes that the unexplained professional work of journalists is of exceptional importance in terms of proper realization of information on the right to receive information.

At the same time, the uninterrupted work of journalists is important not just from the point of view of the protection of the rights of specific individuals, but it has great public importance. Mass media should have a favorable environment to carry out their activities. In this regard, it is key to ensuring that government agencies and officials, as public authorities, take active steps to form such an environment. At the same time, officials should keep in mind that journalists' questions can often be sharp, being permissible if they do not contradict the legality of freedom of speech.

The Human Rights Defender considers the fact that the cases of taking into account the above-mentioned criteria are often negative, which has a negative impact on the activities of journalists and guarantee unhindered professional activities.
As a common problem in the field, the defender considers it problematic and the fact that due to the lack of proper domestic mechanisms, each official journalist is followed by mutual accusations on the maintenance of ethics norms.

The Human Rights Defender emphasizes that the state's obligation is to develop and implement proper structures of discussing issues related to officials and journalists, which are missing or are not properly implemented.

The Defender again emphasizes that the main communication with journalists and the principles of "responsible journalism" with the accuracy of independence, journalistic ethics and other referrals in terms of information, neutrality, accountability and other referrals have the freedom of release.

There are many problems in the field and competent players need to make serious efforts to overcome them. "
