The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia cooperates with the leading Italian Restorative Specialists to restore the bathroom of Garni Temple.
On the initiative of the Ministry, a recovery project was ordered by state allocations. This was reported by the RA Minister of Education.
2019 The Italian Restorative Architect Louchio Specos has been drawn up and a project of Garni Bath Assessment and Restoration, which envisages the fastening and restoration of the mosaic, as well as the replacement of the cover with modern architectural solutions.
Taking into account the importance of Garni temple and bathroom, the methodology proposed by the author of the project, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia started negotiations with the Italian side and 2024. An agreement was reached to implement the removal of the mosaic in the "L'Opificio Delle Pietre Dure" institute with the support of the Italian Embassy in Armenia. The latter is the specialized structure of the Italian Ministry of Culture in the field of monumental art study and restoration.
Experts of the mentioned institute within 2024 within the framework of the project. The measurement were carried out on the spot, and in April-May 2025 it is planned to visit the specialists to Armenia to continue the works and to take samples.
The replacement of the recovery and coverage of the mosaic will start in 2025.
