India and the US will expand cooperation in the space sector

India and the United States intend to expand cooperation in space exploration, including in the field of long-term human space flight, said a joint statement issued after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States and talks with US President Donald Trump.

"The leaders called for expanding cooperation in space exploration, including in the areas of long-term human space flight, ensuring the safety of space flight, sharing of experiences and professional exchanges, including in the areas of planetary defense," the statement said.

The Indian and US leaders also "committed to further commercial cooperation in the space industry."
