Europe is worried about Trump-Putin talks: Politico

There have been concerns in Europe about the talks between US and Russian Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. This is reported by Politico. “European officials have long feared that Trump’s historically warm relationship with Putin could lead to them being left out of high-level discussions about the future of the continent,” the publication says. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said in an interview with the publication that “peace can only be achieved together.”

She emphasized that Europe must follow this path with Ukraine so that peace returns to the region.

On February 12, US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The conversation between the two leaders lasted almost an hour and a half. The heads of state discussed issues related to the exchange of Russian and US citizens. The topic of resolving the conflict in Ukraine was also discussed.

Peskov noted that Trump spoke in favor of an early end to hostilities. Putin, in turn, stated the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict, and the Russian leader also agreed with the American leader that a long-term settlement can be achieved through peaceful negotiations.
