Musk continues his attack with Trump's blessing, looking for new targets: CNN

Elon Musk’s vast and opaque power is only growing as he seeks new targets for his federal government-busting machine, CNN analyst Stephen Collinson reports.

Trump’s rampant use of executive branch power to cripple statutory agencies, fire staff and halt spending already authorized by Congress raises alarm bells that he is clearly violating the Constitution by usurping power that the presidency does not have.

But Musk’s role, in his unelected power, is unprecedented. The world’s richest man is firing government officials, eroding America’s global soft power and gaining access to the data and personal information of potentially millions of Americans, all without accountability. Several courts have already stepped in to temporarily halt Trump and Musk’s plans. But all of this is leading up to one of the most significant presidential power struggles in recent history, one that will pit the Supreme Court against a conservative majority that has an expansive view of executive branch power.

Many predicted that Musk and Trump would part ways, given their volatile personalities, but Trump shows no signs of tiring of Musk, who serves as the leading agent of the president’s agenda of revenge and subversion.
