Sukhumi airport is going to accept the first long-distance flight from Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Friday, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
This flight, which will be carried out in a test mode, is already on the board at the airport building.
The departure hall has already been installed on tape barriers, and the employees have occupied their seats near the registration tables. At the same time, construction works are still going on in another part of the airport.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that it would be established between Moscow and Sukhumi until May.
Sukhumi Airport is located 18 miles [18 km] from the capital of Abkhazia near the village of Ayda in the Gulcribhe region. The airport was built in the 1960s, until 1993 (during the Georgian-Abkhazian war), it could have taken up to 5,000 passengers a day.
