A hypothetical acquisition of mineral-rich Greenland would be a bad deal for US President-elect Donald Trump, as the US is already getting everything it wants from the strategically important island, according to Politico.
According to the publication, “capturing Greenland by acquisition or force will not really improve Washington's prospects.” The US has already achieved its goals there. Their space base on Pituffic Island (formerly Tully Air Base) is "an important military facility for early warning systems and air forces in the Arctic region."
The White House also prevented the sale of a large mine of rare earth metals in Greenland to China, Politico reminds.
