The Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed al-Khuleifi, arrived in Damascus on the plane of the national airline Qatar Airways. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari, adviser to the prime minister, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the emirate, announced this.
"His Excellency al-Khulayfi, led by a high-ranking Qatari official delegation, recently arrived in Damascus on the first Qatar Airways plane to land at the airport of the Syrian capital after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad," Ansari wrote on his X social network page. The Qatari delegation plans a series of "meetings with Syrian officials", he added.
On December 21, the Qatari embassy in Damascus resumed work 13 years after the closure of the diplomatic mission in 2011 due to the conflict in Syria. The flag of the emirate was raised above the building of the diplomatic mission. Qatar's charge d'affaires in Syria Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud al-Sharif took part in the opening ceremony of the embassy.
