As a result of regular inspections against illegal migration in Georgia, 59 foreigners were arrested. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.
Among those arrested are citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, India, China, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Egypt and a number of other countries.
Employees of the Migration Department of Georgia conducted inspections in various places and facilities in order to identify foreigners who are in the country without legal grounds.
The arrested were transferred to the Migration Department's temporary residence center. Deportation procedures have been initiated against them.
In mid-2025, migration legislation in Georgia was tightened. After that, about 160 special inspections were carried out, more than 18 thousand foreigners were checked, and about 1,000 illegal migrants were deported from the country.
