US President Donald Trump has promised to personally visit 35 US states to campaign for his party's candidates for the House and Senate. "I'm going to every state for my congressmen and senators," Trump said at the Republican National Convention.
The US president has said he will support Republicans who are lagging behind their rivals in the polls or whose lead is not too large. Trump said he would visit about 35 of the 50 US states.
"In some cases, twice," he said. This is the first time the party has held a convention dedicated to the midterm elections. Usually, Democrats and Republicans only gather during the presidential campaign to choose their candidates.
