Russia is ready for possible attempts by the West to interfere in the country's internal affairs. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov in a comment to Izvestia. "The fact that attempts to interfere in our internal affairs have always been, are and will be is obvious," the Kremlin representative said. According to Peskov, such attempts have been made before, and the Russian authorities already have considerable experience in counteracting them.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service stated that the European Union and a number of European countries are trying to destabilize the situation in Russia and hinder the electoral process before the vote scheduled for September.
According to the Russian side, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament may also make statements not to recognize the election results.
