A Tatra Tadeas armored vehicle overturned during a military equipment exhibition at the Lesany Military and Technical Museum in the Benešov region of the Czech Republic. Two people were injured,ČTKpolice and rescue service representatives told the agency.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time during a mass event called "Tank Day." According to police, the vehicle overturned. The driver was a 33-year-old man who had passed a breathalyzer test before the trip. The result was negative. Two other adults and two minor boys were in the vehicle, who suffered minor injuries.
Rescuers took the two injured to hospital. One of them suffered a moderate head injury and was hospitalized at the Tomáš Hospital in Prague, while the second, with minor injuries, was taken to the Benešov Hospital.
The Institute of Military History in Prague clarified that the accident occurred outside the official program of the “Tank Day” and did not affect the visitors of the event. The car was participating in a separate demonstration of the latest equipment of the Tatra Defence company for the Prima TV channel’s film crew.
One of the injured is an employee of the car manufacturer Tatra Defence. The representative of the parent company Czechoslovak Group, Andrey Chirtek, said that the Tadeas armored vehicle was involved. The causes of the accident are being investigated by the police and the military police.
The name Tadeas is an abbreviation for Tatra Defence Armoured Solution. The company completed the development of the armored vehicle in 2024.
The Military and Technical Museum in Leszno has been operating since 1996. It is located on the territory of the former artillery barracks and preserves hundreds of examples of military equipment, including tanks, artillery guns, motorcycles, armored vehicles, trucks and light passenger cars. The collection of Czechoslovak military equipment from 1918–1939 and the collection of Škoda artillery systems are considered one of the most significant in Europe.
