King Harald V of Norway has died in a hospital in Oslo at the age of 89.
This was announced by the press service of the royal family.
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of His Majesty King Harald today," the statement said.
King Harald V of Norway, 89, was hospitalized on August 17 due to an infection and complications from hemolytic anemia. He has remained in the hospital since then.
On August 27, the royal family announced that his health condition had deteriorated and was assessed as "very serious." The king, a member of the Glücksburg dynasty, has been on the throne since 1991. He is succeeded by his 53-year-old son, Haakon.
