The RA Ministry of Defense and the Investigative Committee have responded to one of the reports in the press and social networks regarding the tragic collision that took place in Chambarak.
Earlier, information was spread in the media that the incident was preceded by a fight between recruits in the canteen of the military unit, after which, allegedly, as a punishment, the servicemen were taken out for a run with gas masks before sleeping.
According to the same publication, the soldiers were also wearing gas masks at the time of the collision and therefore did not notice the approaching car. It should be noted that these claims were presented with reference to internal sources and were not officially confirmed.
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense are now denying the part of the information concerning gas masks.
"As a result of a joint discussion with the colleagues of the Armenian Investigative Committee, we consider it necessary to respond to one of them.rumors that soldiers ran with gas masks are not true", the message says.
At the same time, the official message does not clarify:why were the servicemen in that part of the evening, were they taken out for a run and what preceded it?.
To remind, on August 19, around 21:00, a "GAZ-53" car ran over several servicemen on the highway leading to Chambarak city. Soldier Suren Mambrei Vardanyan died, six more soldiers were injured.
An investigation is underway to find out the circumstances of the incident.
