At the beginning of August, the 112 operational control center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received several calls regarding the robbery. On Bagratunyats Avenue and Yeghishe Tadevosyan Street of the capital, the gold chain was torn from the necks of three elderly women.
The police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informs that the officers of the department for combating crimes against property of the criminal police department of the city of Yerevan realized the operative information with the colleagues of the Shengavit department of the community police.
"Reliable information was received that the open robberies were committed by a 39-year-old man from the village of Malishka, Vayots Dzor region.
In the subsequent measures, it was found out that it is the same person whom the criminal police already suspected for such crimes committed in the past and ascertained his actual place of residence.
On August 13, at 09:40 in the morning, on the Nar-Dos street of the capital city, where the man had temporarily settled, he was arrested on reasonable suspicion of committing the aforementioned robberies and transferred to the Yerevan Department of the Criminal Police.
The man confessed not only in August, but also to four other robberies committed earlier, all of which took place on Bagratunyats Avenue in the capital, and the victims were again elderly women.
The compiled documents were submitted to the investigation department of Shengavit administrative district.
The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to the penitentiary.
