US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance, the potential Republican presidential candidates, have not yet discussed the upcoming 2028 election, Axios reports, citing sources.
In early August, US President Donald Trump cautiously responded to media reports that Vance would be his successor in the 2028 election, saying that he valued his ally, but that it was too early to discuss such plans.
"Trump wants Vance to choose Rubio as vice president, but the two of them have not seriously discussed the issue of the presidential race," the portal reports. The portal also notes that Rubio has significantly boosted his profile among voters thanks to viral memes shared by the White House in May in honor of the secretary of state's birthday.
