In the opposition field, as it turns out, the situation is not as united as it is presented to the public. According to the information of "Zhoghovurd" daily, serious tension has grown within the "Hayastan" faction in recent weeks, and deputy Aghvan Vardanyan has appeared at the center of the controversy.
According to our sources, the relations between Vardanyan and faction deputy Mesrop Manukyan have significantly worsened. The point is that even before the parliamentary elections and during the electoral process, Vardanyan discussed various information about Manukyan with his teammates, told various episodes about him and conveyed information of an internal nature that could negatively affect Manukyan's political career. However, as our interlocutors claim, some of these conversations reached Mesrop Manukyan himself.
As a result, an atmosphere of mutual mistrust was formed between the two MPs, which turned into open tension over time. But this is only part of the internal contradictions. According to "Zhoghovurd" daily, some representatives of the faction are also dissatisfied with Aghvan Vardanyan's decision to assume a parliamentary mandate.
They consider that Vardanyan should have kept his promise and renounced the mandate. Let's remember that before the National Assembly elections, Vardanyan made a public statement, according to which, if Nikol Pashinyan is re-elected as Prime Minister, he will not take the parliamentary mandate. However, after the elections, Vardanyan not only did not give up the mandate, but also continued his activities in the parliament. According to our sources, this step has become one of the main causes of dissatisfaction within the faction.
Some teammates evaluate it as a step back from the pre-election announcement, which damaged the atmosphere of internal confidence. All this happens at a stage when the opposition field is trying to reorganize and act as a counterweight to the government.
However, judging from internal developments, one of the main problems of the opposition continues to be not only the fight against the government, but also overcoming the contradictions that have arisen within its own ranks.
