Ugandan authorities have announced that the Ebola outbreak that was discovered in the country in May is over. This was announced by the Ministry of Health in a statement published on X. "Uganda is officially free of Ebola," Health Minister Chris Barjomunsi emphasized.
He said the decision was made after the end of a 42-day observation period that began on June 16, when the last internally infected patient was discharged.
A total of 20 cases have been confirmed in Uganda, 15 of which were imported from the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Five more people have been infected in Uganda. Two patients, both citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, died, and 18 recovered.
