In the US, a facility was created to fight drone swarms

In the conditions of the mass use of drones, the possibilities of traditional countermeasures are no longer sufficient. For this reason, the company Picket Defense Systems introduced the 54-barrel spherical rotating Inferno RTC installation, which is designed to repel mass drone attacks from various directions.

The pipes of the Inferno RTC are fixed at different angles around the entire perimeter of the spherical body, reports "Techkult". Instead of aiming a single weapon at a target, the system automatically selects the one closest to it, which, according to the creators, eliminates most of the delays inherent in conventional remote-controlled combat modules.

The station detects UAVs with the help of a passive sensor complex that combines a three-dimensional microphone network with several optical cameras to detect and track the drones.

The Inferno RTC is produced in two versions: a light 36 barrel with a mass of about 20 kg, and a heavy 54 barrel with a mass of about 40 kg. The light version supports 5.56mm ammunition, .410 cartridges, and 20-gauge cartridges, and the heavy version supports 12-gauge cartridges and 40mm low-velocity ammunition. According to the authors, both systems are capable of detecting and hitting targets at a distance of up to 120 m.
