Kazakhstan's President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk, proposed to "freeze" the Ukrainian conflict, return to the Istanbul settlement resolution and move towards peace.
"Perhaps it is time to freeze this conflict and return to the Istanbul formula 2.0, because significant results were achieved there. Naturally, under the guarantees of the great powers, including Russia, continue to move towards the long-awaited peace," he said.
At the same time, the President of Kazakhstan stated that he refuses to assume the role of a mediator in the settlement of the conflict.
Tokayev also emphasized that Astana's position towards Russia remains unchanged.
Tokayev also noted that the nature and origins of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia were completely clear, unlike the Russian-Ukraine conflict. "The nature and origins of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia were completely clear to us. they had deep historical roots. However, this is very difficult to understand."
The President of Kazakhstan added that Vladimir Putin "showed maximum diplomatic flexibility" during the meeting held in Alaska.
