Deputies of the "Fair Russia" faction submitted to the State Duma a bill establishing the death penalty for corrupt officials who undermine the security and defense capabilities of the Russian Federation. This was reported by RTVI, referring to the leader of the party, Sergey Mironov.
"The official's actions, which were carried out with selfish motives, directly undermine the security of citizens and the country's defense capability, should be equated with espionage and treason, because they are also a betrayal of national interests," Mironov said.
In his opinion, the strictest sanctions, including the death penalty, should be imposed for such crimes. The attached documents mention similar practices in China, Vietnam and Thailand. In China, "the public application of such punishments is a powerful deterrent," RTVI quoted from the explanatory note.
Death penalty:as the ultimate means of punishment, officially exist has in Russia, but is not used, because in 1997 an indefinite moratorium was imposed on it.
